Description
These hand knitted handmade turbans are made from a 4 ply fine weight yarn which is 100% premium acrylic with natural anti-pilling quality. Due to my ethical approach to animal welfare, I don’t knit with animal fibres.
“Sheep raised for their wool all over the world are castrated and have their tails cut off—all without any painkillers—when they are only a few weeks old. Shearers are paid by volume, not by the hour, which means that they work roughly and fast, leaving animals injured or with open gashes that can become infected. Terrified sheep who don’t cooperate with the shearers are often beaten and kicked into place.” – PETA (2019).
Additionally, acrylic is durable, hypoallergenic, lightweight and warm. The premium acrylic quality of the yarn used for these turbans gives a softer and less scratchy feel compared to standard acrylic yarns.
The turbans are made using an English Rib Stitch, also known as the Fisherman’s Rib Stitch. This stitch results in a reversible fabric that is thick and warm. It also provides a lot of horizontal stretch which means one size fits all!
Care instructions:
– Machine wash at 30 degrees on gentle cycle or hand wash in cold or lukewarm water
– Do not iron
– Do not bleach
– Low heat tumble dry or dry flat
– Do not dry clean
